Cordless - the Remix

Sam's umbilical cord fell off today (and the really gross part is that I can't find it anywhere!), so he got to have a real bath for the first time. He liked it at first, but after a while I think he realized how hungry he was and decided that he was done with the bath.

Just Lying Around

That's pretty much what we've been doing around here these days. I've discovered that life is fairly calm with just one child who sleeps 90% of the time!

My "Big" Kids

Who would have thought I would refer to my just turned 3 year old and my 19 month old as BIG kids?! They certainly are, though. And they are certainly having a good time in the Upstate with the grandparents!

New Nursery

Since we didn't know our little Sam was going to be a boy, we decided to wait and deal with the nursery once our babe arrived. So, the day he was born, our poor son's nursery had green, yellow, and PINK stripes. We really liked the stripes and didn't want to paint over them in case our new addition was a girl. Marshall decided he was willing to tape the room again and just paint the pink stripes BLUE. It looks like a completely different room! It's not officially finished, but here are some pictures I took this afternoon. Oh, and if you want to compare the blue stripes with the pink ones, click here.

Cordless and Upstate Fun

Look who's cordless now!

We still have to go back to the hospital for more blood work tomorrow, just to make sure his levels are continuing to go down. That will be day 4 of going to the hospital for blood work, and day 5 overall of people poking my baby with needles, so hopefully tomorrow will be the last day. But tonight . . . well, tonight he's cordless! It's a wonderful thing not to have to plug-in your new baby!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In other news, it seems that our oldest two are having a blast in the Upstate with their grandparents. Granny sent pictures of some of their adventures yesterday. Wish I could have been there to see Jack's face when he saw that caboose - I'm sure it was pure joy!
Our Little Glow Worm
Our little guy is jaundice, and honestly, he looks a bit like a sweet potato! This evening we had to hook him up to the bili light (after two trips to the doctor and one trip to the hospital for bloodwork), and he was not a huge fan of it at first. He finally got used to it and is glowing as we speak. We go back for blood work tomorrow and will see what happens next.
Trying it out for the first time.
Hooked up to all of his new wires.
I know it's blurry, but it's all I could get of him glowing.
Coming Home
It feels so good to be home!! We walked in the door yesterday about 12:30, right as the kids were finishing up their lunch (so ignore Anna's messy face). Jack and Anna are ALL ABOUT their new baby brother. Anna kept saying "hey baby" and Jack seems to enjoy telling Anna to touch Sam easy (she doesn't enjoy hearing it, though). They really have been super sweet with him and his fuzzy head might be bald soon, if they keep rubbing his head as much as they did yesterday!
Hank had to have his turn checking out this new little bundle we brought home.
Yes, Jack has a black eye. Apparently he fell and cut it on something earlier that morning.
Anna was SO excited to see her Daddy yesterday - she barely left his side.
Anna decided it was time to get Sam out!
Wherever Sam was, Jack and Anna were!
This seems to be how he likes to sleep - mouth wide open!
More Pictures
Here are some more pictures taken yesterday. They are all in random order, which usually drives me crazy, but I'm letting it slide just this once! Sam seems to be a pretty laid back baby (though he's not even 28 hours old yet, so this could definitely change). He has Jack's reddish hair, but other than that, he doesn't really look like either of his big siblings. He's doing well and we're hoping to go home tomorrow morning.
Pop, Mason, & Grammy posing with the "big kids."
Jack getting an up close look at his new baby brother.
Granny taking a peek at number 3!
Anna finally zonked out in Pop's lap.
Notice that Jack's more interested in the computer than the new baby!
Grammy checking out Sam's hair.
Pop loving on his new boy.
No more pictures!
Since Anna was asleep on the couch (in the background), Jack wanted to sleep in the bed with me.
