Busted!

This is how I found my children when I got off of a 3 minute phone call (where I left the room). Anna reading a book while sitting in the Bumbo, which is sitting in the recliner, and Jack sitting on the table watching TV!

Bye Bye Mullet

I finally gathered up enough courage to have Anna's hair cut for the first time. It's taken so long to get just this little bit, I hated to cut it. However, the mullet is no longer in style and I couldn't have my baby girl rocking it any more! She did great and sat very still the entire time. She looks a bit scared in some of the pictures, but I don't really think she was.

2 Month Check Up

This guy finally had his 2 month check up at the doctor today (we had to reschedule due to our vacation so he's actually about 2 1/2 months). Everything looks good and our big boy is healthy! The doctor was pretty impressed that he's sleeping about 9 hours at night. He usually goes to bed around 8:00 and sleeps until 5:00 or 5:30-ish. I will be more impressed when he sleeps a good twelve hours straight, because let me just remind you . . . 5 AM is NOT morning time in our house - I don't care what Jack thinks! Here are Sam's stats:

13 lbs, 10 oz
23 1/4 inches

Not to be left out . . .

We like to start them out as Thomas fans pretty early around here!

Smiling at his big brother.

Bathtub Modeling

Anna wore her hair in pig tails yesterday and had crazy hair once we took them out for her bath. Marshall brought out the camera to document it and then they wanted to pose for the camera and see their silly pictures. Here are some of my favorites.

Our Day

Today was our first full day back together as a family of five (Jack & Anna have been with their grandparents for the past week). We had a low key, but enjoyable day together! We went to church, made rice krispie treats, grilled out for lunch, napped, played, had a little game time, and went for a walk . . . and I didn't threaten to send our kids back to their grandparents even once!

Huh?

Their first time playing Hi Ho Cherry-O and Candy Land was actually a success!

Just because it's fun to compare your kids . . . .

First few experiences with the Bumbo:

Sam - 9 weeks
He really did enjoy it and smiled quite a bit, but I'm just not fast enough with the camera.

Anna - 12 weeks
She loved it from the beginning, but she was a bit older than the other two.

Jack - 9 weeks
Not a fan the first time, or any other time he sat in it!

Day Out with Thomas

Friday morning we got up early and drove over to Bryson City for a Day Out with Thomas. We anticipated this being the highlight of our entire trip for Jack, so we didn't really tell him about it until that morning so that he wouldn't make us crazy talking about it all week! Let's just say it didn't disappoint. Jack was thrilled to see Thomas and to ride on a train. He loved riding the bus (the shuttle to and from the parking lot), jumping and sliding in the bouncy house, and playing with the train tables. He had to be dragged kicking and screaming from the train tables but we pretty much expected that. Grammy was kind enough to stay behind and keep Sam, which made our visit with Thomas much easier!

Waiting to leave the train station.

The conductor.

I think Anna's favorite part was "directing" the music on the train ride (they played Thomas songs over a loud speaker).

All the kids got a certificate for riding on Thomas.

This is a random guy on staff with Thomas who jumped in as I was taking a picture of my family. Now if only I could photoshop my head in there instead of his!

Jack wanted to take some pictures and this one isn't half bad.

Anna loved playing on the Thomas made out of legos.

Concentrating on her masterpiece - check out the tongue.

We waited in line about 10 minutes to have pictures made with Sir Topham Hatt. Once we got up there, Jack freaked out (he hates people dressed up as things) and then Anna fell backwards off the platform. This is the best picture we could get before we walked away with our two screaming kids!

After calming down with ice cream, we checked out the gift shop.

Jack ended up choosing Emily as his sursy.

And Anna got a book she couldn't seem to put down while Jack shopped.

I tried to get one more picture of the kids before the final meltdown ...

that looked a little something like this!

That was our cue to hop on the shuttle and head back to the car. Jack really did have a blast, though. Anna was completely worn out and fell asleep in the car. When we got back to the cabin, this is what she did:

It was a fun day and a great way to finish up our wonderful, jam-packed vacation!
