My Granddaddy died two weeks ago today. He was an amazing man. He lived 94 years and touched so many people. He was known for his great radio voice and was the master interviewer. An article in his hometown paper stated that between his radio and television careers he interviewed over 4,000 people in 39 states and 14 countries. However, I will always remember him as the man who wore bow ties, collected elephants, dressed up in a Santa suit at Christmas that looked more like pajamas than a costume, and loved my Memama with a passion so that it was always evident she was the most important person in his life. He was a wonderful Granddaddy to us, and Jack has a lot to live up to based on one of his namesakes. We will miss him, but know that he is with his bride and his Jesus, and that's really all that matters.

The last picture taken with Jack, only 12 days before he passed away. He's learning all about Lightning McQueen, which illustrates one of Granddaddy's thoughts on life - you're never too old to learn new things.
We traveled to Granddaddy's long time home of Kinston, NC for the funeral last weekend. As a tribute to him, all the guys in the family wore bow ties. Several of his friends also showed up sporting their bow ties, which was such a special gesture.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. But what wonderful things you shared about him. I can tell he was a wonderful man who loved Jesus. What a legacy to leave a family that loves and follows God just as he did. That is what it is about. Happy birthday to Sam also.
